The national reports from the Red Cross show that significantly fewer missions have been registered at Easter this year than normal.
– On average, there used to be more than twice as many injuries at Easter, writes the Red Cross in a press release.
– Gray weather and rain in many places lead to fewer trips, and people embark on shorter trips. There have also been fewer injuries. In the north, it has been brilliant Easter weather, while it has been worse elsewhere in the country, says Margrethe Skåden in the national council for the Red Cross Relief Corps.

40 damage
– We’ve probably had slightly better weather than most. It was very nice on Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Eve, and there was also fog and rain on Easter Sunday. Then it seemed that most people went home, says Kjerstin Brautehaug in Møre and Romsdal Red Cross to Sunnmørsposten.
The Red Cross has been present, among other things, at Stranda, Sykkylven, Ørsta and Tresfjord throughout Easter. A total of 40 injuries have been reported at these locations.
– Strandafjellet has generally had a lot of descents, while there was a little less on Sunday and Monday in Sykkylven. Ørsta closed on Sunday, says Brautehaug.

Eight retrieval missions
In total, there have been eight retrieval missions and one search operation for the Red Cross in Møre and Romsdal during Easter. The search operation was in connection with the boat that went down in the Romsdalsfjorden.
Collection assignments can be large or small.
– There could be, for example, fractures or other injuries, where we assist in getting the person down to the road or an ambulance. At the latest yesterday, we helped a person down from Sulafjellet, says Brautehaug on Easter Monday.
There has been a good atmosphere for the volunteers at Easter.
– It gives such a good Easter atmosphere to be a volunteer. This is the highlight. It is very nice and meaningful to be present in the mountains and the alpine resort. We always look forward to Easter, and there have been a lot of people in the whole county, says Brautehaug.
