The woman was found dead in an apartment on Grünerløkka in Oslo on the night of Monday.

– The police have arrested and charged a man with the murder of a woman. The accused is connected to the act, the police write in a press release.

Bjørn Rudjord has been appointed as the man’s defender. He tells TV2 that the accused man is affected by the situation, but that he is prepared to explain himself to the police.

– He will probably plead guilty, says Rudjord at 11am on Monday.

Relatives not notified

It was the accused himself who notified the police, Grete Lien Metlid told Aftenposten.

She is head of the joint unit for intelligence and investigation in the Oslo police district.

Furthermore, she says that it remains to notify one of the next of kin. Thus, the police will not release that much information at this time.

– For the time being, we are a bit reserved. We are questioning the accused now.

– What is the age of the accused and the victim?

– The accused is in his late 20s, while the victim is a few years older. This does not appear as a partner relationship, but two who know each other.

The murder took place in the accused’s apartment, and there is currently nothing to indicate that there were more people involved in the incident.

Was on the spot

The police’s incident leader at the scene, Arve Røtterud, tells NTB that they received a report of a serious incident of violence at around 3 o’clock on Monday night.

– When we arrived, we could ascertain that one person had been killed. The perpetrator was also at the scene, says Røtterud.

According to the police, there were no witnesses to the incident.

– We have been in contact with the neighboring apartments, but no one has brought anything special, so we do not have much more information at the moment, says the task leader.

Around 4.30 a.m., the police’s crime scene technicians arrived at the scene.

– Seizures have been made in the case, which we also believe were used to carry out the murder, says the task leader.

This is the 17th case where the police in this country have started a murder investigation in 2024. In total there are 22 victims in the various cases.
