A large part of the sum will be used for the preparedness the Red Cross has in the mountains.
– For many, Easter is synonymous with trips in the mountains, with the joys and dangers that come with it. Here we have a contingency plan in both Hovden, Brokke, Høgås, Bortelid and Ljosland, says Synnøve Eikaas Aksnes in a press release.
She is the district manager of the Agder Red Cross, which received 2.3 million via the deposit machines in 2023. This is a 10 per cent increase from the previous year.

– Although we are present with volunteers, it is not free. Such preparedness requires training, clothing and expensive equipment such as tracked vehicles and emergency ambulances. Therefore, the income from the panthelottery is absolutely crucial for the desperate efforts made in the mountains.
The association further states that part of the funds will also be used for trips to those who do not have the resources to do so themselves.
Of the country’s 26 pawn millionaires, two were from Agder: A woman won the million prize at Meny Sørlandsparken in June and in September a man won one million in the pawn lottery at Kiwi Vågsbygd.
