Basically, a sales ban in an EEA country will mean the same for all other EEA countries, including Norway, according to the regulatory authority Nkom.

– We strongly disagree with the decision and will do everything we can to look after customers, partners and employees. Our main focus has always been people and safety, says general manager Jonas Helmikstøl in a press release.

– Disappointed

It was Dagens Næringsliv that first reported that the company has been banned from selling two of its chargers in Sweden. The company confirms in its press release that it is trying to obtain a temporary injunction against the sales ban coming into effect immediately. In addition, they notify an immediate appeal process.

– We are disappointed with how we have been treated. They have not addressed the information we have provided, says CTO Kjetil Næsje.

Nkom writes in a press release that they must be given time to look into the matter.

– We have just received the information from the Electrical Safety Authority, and we need some time to see what it means as a whole, says department director John-Eivind Velure in Nkom.

Does not meet safety requirements

The Swedish supervisory authority stated in February that they believe the product does not meet basic safety requirements for charging stations. Among other things, it concerns missing earth-fault circuit breakers. In addition, the company claims that the chargers meet the requirement for direct current protection, but the Swedish Safety Agency believes that this does not exist. It was Teknisk Ukeblad that reported the problems first.

There are no specific events that form the basis for the sales ban, which the Swedish Safety Agency also clarifies in its statement. Around 100,000 chargers of the mentioned models should have been sold in Sweden.

The supervisory authority writes that it is now up to Easee to find a solution and connect its customers to this solution.

– We understand that there is unrest among private individuals in this matter, but manufacturers who receive this type of negative message are usually quick to meet the demands that are made, says inspector Joel Lee Antman.

Naf requires clarification

– We understand that there is unrest among private individuals in this matter, but manufacturers who receive this type of negative message are usually quick to meet the demands that are made, says inspector Joel Lee Antman.

Naf demands that the Norwegian authorities clarify the situation as quickly as possible.

– We expect them to give a clear message to Easee about how this should be handled towards the individual consumer. The Swedish Safety Agency has done a thorough and good job, but the case goes back several years. Here, the Norwegian authorities have slept through the hour. Norway is a world leader in electric cars and should be a world leader in the safety of charging stations, says charging expert Jan Tore Gjøby in Naf to NTB.
