“Kongen befaler” was voted best comedy program at this year’s “Gullruten”, but it happened without the king himself, Atle Antonsen, present. He was in New York. Accepting the award were, among others, Antonsen’s assistant, Olli Wermskog, and several of this year’s participants in the comedy show, such as Jonis Josef, Petter Schjærven and Nora Svenningsen.
– We would have liked to have Atle Antonsen here, but this award is so much more than me and Atle, says Wermskog to Kampanje.
– It is such a large production that works all the time to play, he adds.

Believed in Gauteshow
“The king commands” assistant Olli Wermskog admits that he was surprised to win the award for best comedy program. The program won the award in competition with, among others, “Gauteshow” and “Rikets Roast” on VGTV.

– I thought Gauteshow was going to take it, but of course it’s great fun to win.
That “Gauteshow” should have won was something Snorre Monsson from the show more than agreed with. After the award ceremony, Monsson said the following.
– It feels good, but Gauteshow should have won the comedy programme. It was completely wrong that the King in command won that award. It’s not a comedy programme, it’s some reality competition shit, Monsson said in the press room after being with Morten Ramm on stage to accept the “Innovation of the Year” award for the program “Thank you for everything.”

Monsson received support from TV comedian Morten Ramm, who received the award for the program that has aired on VGTV. Ramm also believed that “Gauteshow” should have won and not the King’s orders.
– I agree, they should have won. It’s a comedy show, but I mean it’s an entertainment show. Then I will start that debate, says Ramm.

I believe in ten new seasons
For “The King Commands”, it was a long-awaited victory anyway. In 2022, the program’s protagonist was involved in a difficult case that ended with Atle Antonsen withdrawing from the title role in the program on TVNorge and Discovery+ shortly after social debater Sumaya Jirde Ali reported Antonsen to the police for hate speech and reckless behavior on the background of an incident at Bar Boca in Oslo.
The review was later dropped, but when season seven of the series started in January 2023, it was with Bård Ylvisåker.
Now, however, Antonsen is not only back as king in the programme, he is also king again on the TV industry’s big party night, “Gullruten”. The series is produced by Nordisk Banijay for TV Norway and Warner Bros. Discovery
