Last year, Jenny Skavlan (37) met the wall, which she spoke openly and honestly about on social media. In recent years, the fashion profile and influencer has had her hands full with the sewing collective Fæbrik and the recycling app Tise, in addition to appearing in various TV projects.

In the end, it was too much for the 37-year-old, and she felt compelled to take a break.

“Took hard measures after an intense spring that almost sent me into the wall,” she wrote in an Instagram post last summer.

On Thursday evening, Skavlan was in a happy mood when she attended the Tise Awards, which were held for the very first time. She also revealed what measures she took as a result of the tough times.

– Had to practice coping with it

Although Skavlan is lucky to have his passion as a job, it hasn’t always been a bed of roses. She candidly tells Nettavisen that it is very demanding.

– It is demanding to work with your passion and work in a company that is growing and to have greater influence, she says to Nettavisen.

Skavlan is involved in the ever-growing companies Tise and Fæbrik. She could feel the stress on her body, and during stressful times it didn’t take much before her thoughts and worries started to swirl.

– If I have to think about everything that could go wrong, I won’t be able to sleep.

The heavy workload, family life and the buzzing thoughts became too much for her to handle in the end.

She realized she had to slow down, but it turned out to be a big adjustment for her fashion profile:

– It’s a small muscle you have to train, both letting go of control and tolerating the fact that there are an enormous number of balls in the air that haven’t landed in the hands.

– I have had to practice coping with that, adds Skavlan.

Found techniques

Jenny Skavlan is doing much better today, and it is thanks to the steps she took.

In addition to taking a longer break from social media, meditating more and having less screen time, Skavlan has taken several measures to avoid a repeat of last year’s spring.

– I am conscious because I know that I can hit the wall. And I am dangerously close, dangerously often, she admits.

The measures also apply in the workplace, and Skavlan tries not to be involved and involved in everything. But that does not necessarily mean that she works less and takes more and longer holidays, she says.

She says it’s about the mindset, and she has gained several new perspectives in the past year.

– I try to use my head in a different way, she says and continues:

– I live differently now, and I have found a number of techniques for that.
