During Christmas, former presenter and TV personality Henriette Bruusgaard (42) shared the news that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

The 42-year-old shared the cancer diagnosis on his own Instagram profile, and has subsequently been open about what life with the disease is like.

Bruusgaard has recently undergone chemotherapy, and as a result lost his hair.

Being under cancer treatment brings with it many stresses, which Bruusgaard recently experienced when she had a breakdown at Easter.

Breakdown

– My first little “breakdown” happened at Easter. Something else would be strange, say friends and family, writes the 42-year-old in a candid Instagram post.

However, she does not elaborate more on the breakdown in the post, but Bruusgaard writes that she experiences both ups and downs as a result of the cancer treatment.

She also makes no secret of the fact that she is eager to get started on life.

Nettavisen has been in contact with Henriette Bruusgaard. She is aware that the case is discussed, but has no opportunity to comment on the case at the present time.

The TV profile will continue with chemotherapy and radiation until August, and in the meantime both wigs and headgear help Bruusgaard forget that she is on medication.

She also writes in the post that she is very grateful that she has been cared for by good surgeons, and she is apparently relieved that she does not have to undergo a

– I get to keep two breasts, i.e. there is nothing wrong with one, and the other is reconstructed with my own skin and nipple, silicone or something else. For me, this is important, and I will work hard to get the best possible result, she writes.

For many years, Bruusgaard was seen on the TV screen, including in “Absolut entertainment”, “Alt for Norge” and “Biggest Loser”. In 2022, however, she announced a transition to the PR industry.

– Has many bright spots

Despite the cancer diagnosis, Henriette Bruusgaard tries to use this life phase for something positive, and she herself considers herself lucky:

– I have so many bright spots, and I work hard to focus on them, she writes.

Since the announcement of the cancer diagnosis, Bruusgaard has updated her close to 15,000 followers on Instagram about her new everyday life, and in the comment fields of her posts there are constant messages of support.

The 42-year-old’s recent Instagram post has received thousands of likes in a relatively short time, and many are sending her supportive words and warm thoughts.

“Absolutely allowed with breakdowns, the damn cancer takes some thoughts with it! You’re raw, even if it doesn’t always feel like it, but your openness is good,” reads one of the comments.

Artist Tone Damli (35) has commented on a heart, while Vibeke Klemetsen (48) expresses that she is looking forward to reuniting with her friend soon.

Disappointing message after the tough time

In an interview with “Good morning Norway” in January, Bruusgaard shared further about the cancer diagnosis. Then she said that the breast cancer was discovered when she visited her GP after noticing a change in her breast.

– On the mammogram, they immediately saw that there was something wrong, and sent me on for more tests within a few hours, she told the channel.

She went on to say that the doctors informed her that the treatment time would be long, but that she would not necessarily have to undergo operations.

There is no doubt that the cancer news was discouraging for Bruusgaard, but it was extra hard to hear as the 42-year-old had “finally” built up a better everyday life after some difficult years.

It was a difficult time with both the pandemic, break-ups and depression:

– I had in many ways found myself back, with a really good drive, after many years of difficulties. I was so ready for what was to come. I also get the message which is so discouraging. You wouldn’t think it was possible, she told TV 2.
