«Every time I post something, and it’s been like that since I was 30, I’m accused of having surgery beyond recognition/using Botox/fillers – and being obsessed with looking younger», writes Beckinsale to her 5.6 million followers on Instagram.

She says she dislikes paying attention to the speculation.

«I hate to talk about it, but I do it anyway, because any kind of malicious bullying over time is a strain».

The British actress has posted two videos, which she explains were taken at least 20 years apart. The latest is from The King’s Trust Global Gala in New York last week.

The purpose is to show that she does not look very different today than she did then.

Beckinsale says that it is exhausting having to deal with all the press and claims about her appearance.

She also categorically denies having fixed her appearance using any of the aforementioned methods.

«I have even gone to the extent of having a plastic surgeon certify that I have never had surgery. Yet I encounter a chorus of people shouting “My God, you don’t even look like yourself anymore!»

Becksinale, known from films such as “Pearl Harbor”, “Serendipity”, “Van Helsing”, “Vacancy” and “Underworld”, says that she experiences this constantly, and that it is usually women who accuse her.

«Life happens, and of course I’ve gotten older. Everyone gets older».

Becksinsale assures that she herself does not worry significantly about the aging process, which she believes has to do with the fact that she found her father dead when she was only five years old.

«I spent most of my teens and 20s sick with anxiety and full of panic fear that I too would die of a heart attack.”

Therefore, Beckinsale finds it ironic that she should be blamed for not being able to cope with getting older. She uses the word “bullying” several times in the speech.

The 50-year-old believes the two videos she shares prove that her younger self was paler because she lived in England – and that she now lives in California.

As a young woman, she also “plucked off” her eyebrows, she explains.

«And I loved the lipstick that everyone wore. In addition, I had a rounder face, which most people have in their late teens and early 20s.»

Becksinsale writes that despite her heartbreak, she has absolutely no faith whatsoever that the speculation will end.

«Because it’s not going to stop.”

She nevertheless rounds off with: “Please give yourselves.»

At the time of writing, 23 hours after she published the post, more than 83,000 have clicked “like” and more than 6,500 have commented.
