It was a smiling Johnny Depp (59) who met Dagbladet outside the Grand Hotel in Oslo on Friday. Dagbladet were the only ones who met him, and the actor and artist took the time to talk to the newspaper’s correspondent.
– Nice to meet you, says a smiling Depp, before he shakes hands with the reporters.
Depp arrived in Norway on Tuesday afternoon, and was initially to play a concert at Sentrum Scene, together with guitar legend Jeff Beck (78), on Friday. However, the concert was postponed due to corona infection among one of the band members.
Based on what Dagbladet experiences, neither Depp nor Beck are infected. Both boarded the nightliner bus without a face mask.
– Waiting to play
Depp says that he is disappointed that there was no concert this time:
“Unfortunately we did not get to play the concert, but we will return in a couple of weeks,” Depp told Dagbladet.
Breaks the silence about the romance rumors
– I have mostly just been waiting to play. We did not get out big, says Depp.
In the days since the star arrived in Oslo, he has been little observed, and has presumably mostly stayed at the Grand Hotel, where he has lived during his stay.
– What have you done?
– I have not done much. Just waiting to play.
Depp has not been to Tons Of Rock. And was not out in the boat and enjoyed the nice weather.
– But my friend did it then, he adds before he is escorted into the bus.
It is not known who this “friend” is, but maybe Jeff Beck took a trip on the lake.
Breakfast at the Grand
Earlier today, Depp is said to have had breakfast at the Grand Hotel in Oslo. As far as Dagbladet knows, Depp will continue to Stockholm on Friday in a private plane.
According to the plan, Depp, Beck and the rest of the band will return to play two concerts in Oslo on July 2, before taking the trip on to Koengen in Bergen.
Depp is currently one of the world’s most talked about people, after he sued his ex-wife Amber Heard for defamation. The 59-year-old was acquitted on all counts, and Heard was sentenced to pay the ex-husband 10 million dollars in compensation.
