Porsche Taycan – May start to burn

--

In January this year, Porsche announced a recall of 858 cars of the Taycan electric car, produced in the period between 18 September 2020 and 22 June 2023. A fault in a cell in the high-voltage battery could lead to a short circuit and fire.

Now Porsche is announcing two new recalls for 2,936 Taycans, produced between 2019 and 2023, and 4,522 cars produced between 2018 and 2024. In both cases, the cause is again a possible fault in a battery cell, which can lead to a short circuit and then a fire.

According to the German Bundesamt of Motor Vehicles (KBA), which has ordered the recall, the cars must go to an authorized workshop to have the battery checked and possibly replace the defective cell(s).

Many cars in Norway

According to the Norwegian Porsche importer, around 200 cars are affected here at home. Owners are contacted by their local Porsche Center. The affected cell modules must be replaced in cases where abnormal conditions are identified.

The recall started in January 2024 for the affected cars and we are well underway with improving these.

The Porsche Tayacan has been a very popular electric car in Norway. Many saw their average to get a tax-free Porsche before the government added VAT on the most expensive electric cars.

According to the Road Traffic Information Council, 5,165 Porsche Taycans have been sold in Norway since 2018. In addition, 292 used cars have been imported.
