In an interview with VG, artist Jorun Stiansen (40) talks candidly about the choice not to have children.
– It’s a world I don’t want to be a part of, she tells the newspaper.

The artist from Vennesla has also previously, then to Se og Hør, opened up about why she does not want children.
– It’s just a part of me and who I am, and it’s as natural to me as wanting to have children. I have always known that motherhood is not for me, Stiansen told the weekly back in 2019.

In VG, she takes issue with those who ask people when they are thinking of having children. It is especially the fact that you do not know the situation or the history of those you ask that Stiansen reacts to. But she is also keen to challenge the stigmatization of the childless as “selfish and angry”.
– But then, there’s nothing wrong with me, is there? In all seriousness. That’s what they say, that there’s something wrong with people like me, because we don’t want children. We have to put an end to that.

In the description of Podimo’s podcast, it is stated that Stiansen has experienced being told that it is her duty as a woman to carry the species on, and that she will regret the choice she has made when she gets old.
“Why does living life without children arouse so much emotion in others, why do some choose to have children and what is it like not to be able to make that choice yourself?” it continues.
In the podcast, Stiansen therefore wants to start an open, honest and casual conversation about the topic, and will talk to famous people in various life situations about their thoughts and feelings about not having children.
