Maren Mjelde is leaving Chelsea after the season.

The 34-year-old says so in a tearful interview published on the English club’s website on Friday afternoon.

– From all my heart: Thank you very much for me. It’s been an amazing few years – the best of my life. Thank you very much, says Mjelde, as she fights back tears.

She has been a key player for the club for a number of years.

– I came to the club in 2017, and it was a new journey to come to England, to London and to such a big club as Chelsea. When I look back on all the years, there have been more ups than downs, adds Mjelde.

Mjelde leaves Chelsea after seven seasons in the London team. She came to Chelsea from Avaldsnes after the 2016 season in Norway. With the London club, she has won the Super League five times, the FA Cup four times and the League Cup twice.
