Missing Tove (21) has been found dead in Sweden – VG

After two and a half weeks of intense investigation, the police found the woman dead in a wooded area just outside Vetlanda on Wednesday.

The Swedish 21-year-old has been missing since the night of 16 October, when she was last seen at the nightclub “Nöjet” in Vetlanda outside Jönköping in Sweden.

The police now confirm that the dead person they found in a wooded area east of Vetlanda earlier Wednesday is the missing 21-year-old.

That’s what Richard Findal, head of serious crime in the Jönköping police district, says at a press conference on Wednesday evening.

Police chief Jonas Lindell in Höglandet says that the cause of death has not been determined, but they are waiting for the autopsy report.

Two women charged with deprivation of liberty

Tove has been missing for two and a half weeks. Two women in their 20s are in custody, charged with deprivation of liberty. They both deny having done anything criminal.

According to Swedish media, one of the accused women is said to have told her friends that she and Tove had argued, but sorted things out.

The police have also investigated traces which show that Tove’s phone was in one of the accused’s homes early on Sunday morning, according to Expressen.

In parallel with the investigation against the two accused women, the rescue service, the police, the Swedish Home Guard and over 2,000 volunteers have contributed to the search to find Tove.

After the extensive search ended, police conducted more targeted searches based on what the investigation led them to.

It was during such a search that the woman was found earlier on Wednesday.

Chart the accused women’s movements

Finndahl in the police says that the police have not searched this particular area before, but that information from the investigation made them search here now.

– We have mapped the movement pattern of those who are suspected, and that led us to search the area, he explains.

The police say that the women have not been questioned after Tove was found today.

At the same time, they emphasize that they are now continuing an intensive investigation to gain clarity on what has happened.
