It is in the Viaplay documentary “Haaland: The Choice” that Haaland talks about the action he has taken around water. There he shows the method used to filter the water that is drawn from the kitchen tap.

– I have started filtering the water. I think it’s very useful for the body, so that’s why I do it, says the Manchester City star.

In an interview with the Swedish newspaper Expressen, the Swedish drinking water expert Birger Wallsten is more than doubtful about the effect. He works for Svenskt Vatten.

– No, the water must be so good that it is not necessary. Also in Germany and England, he says and adds that the water in Great Britain should be just as good as in Sweden.

When asked by Expressen whether Haaland’s belief that filtration is good for the body may be hypothetical, Wallsten replies:

– I would say that it is very hypothetical. At least when it comes to bacteria, but some are a bit hypochondriacal. There are companies that sell such things in Sweden, extra filtering taps that you can put on.

He firmly denies that filtering is necessary.

– No, really not. But if it feels good to certain people, you can probably do it. Rather, it may be that you take away some useful salts that the body needs. It is not something you need to do. The water must be approved both from a bacterial and chemical point of view, says Wallsten.
