Russian authorities report Ukrainian attacks against the Belgorod and Krasnodar regions.
Thursday 9 May at 06:21A fire broke out in an oil refinery in the Krasnodar region of Russia after a Ukrainian drone attack on Thursday night, according to the Russian authorities.
Around six drones were destroyed, but their remains fell on the refinery and caused a fire, regional authorities say on Telegram. Several oil tanks were damaged, it says. The attack is said to have taken place near the village of Jurovka.
Belgorod Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov claims that eight people were wounded and that dozens of homes and several cars were damaged in a Ukrainian airstrike.
Gladkov writes on Telegram that an eleven-year-old girl is among the wounded.
In recent months, Ukraine has attacked Russian oil refineries to hit Russia’s lucrative trade in refined oil products. The Krasnodar region is located in the south-west of Russia and has a coastline towards the Black Sea. Belgorod is located in the west of Russia and borders Ukraine.
Ukraine, for its part, reports Russian attacks on the night of Thursday.
The country’s air force reports that they have shot down 17 drones over Odesa in the south of the country.
