There have been several celebrations for the Swedish royal family recently.
Just over a month ago, Prince Carl Philip (44) and Princess Sofia’s (39) youngest son, Prince Julian, turned three, and just under a month later, older brother Prince Alexander turned eight.
Surprising after nine years
A few days ago it was another birthday in the royal family, when King Carl Gustaf himself turned 78. The monarch’s birthday was celebrated big at “sweet brother”, and although many were ecstatic to see the king, it was grandson Julian who stole the show.
The royal couple, the crown princess family and the princely family appeared together on the castle balcony and it was here that the three-year-old was in charge of the entertainment.
According to Svensk Damtidning, the young prince was photographed, among other things, apparently opening his mouth and “screaming something out”. He also pointed, laughed and waved to the people below the balcony.
In a photo, you can also see Julian sticking out his tongue.
Princess Madeleine (41) and the family were not present during the celebration of Carl Gustaf.
– King Carl Gustaf is used to celebrating without his youngest stepdaughter, who has lived abroad for many years. This year, however, she should have been there, said Se og Hør’s royal house expert Caroline Vagle earlier this week.
– The plan was for her and her family to move home to Sweden last year, but as you know, that was postponed.
Break for 47 days
Vagle also stated that “Madde’s” homecoming is closer than ever before.
– So I guess the king is more happy about that than he is sad that she is not there today, said the royal house expert.
– During the summer, hopefully the whole extended family will be gathered in Sweden on a permanent basis. I’m guessing both young and old are happy about that, she added.
