The resort of Lignano in Italy is introducing a ban on wearing swimwear outside the beach areas in the city, reports 20 Minuten.
– Men must wear a T-shirt with swimming trunks, while women must wear a suitable top over their bikini or bathing suit, writes the newspaper.
The ban applies to everyone, except minors under the age of twelve.

Risk fines
The background to the ban is several complaints from residents who found tourists’ behavior offensive.
– Photos attached to the complaint have documented the slightly too relaxed style of some tourists, says Liliana Portello, city councilor in Lignano, to Udine Today.
If you do not comply with the ban, you risk a fine of 25 euros (296 kroner), while repeated offenses can result in a fine of up to 500 euros (5933 kroner).
20 Minuten writes that other Italian holiday towns and Barcelona have introduced measures that make it illegal to only wear bikinis or swimming trunks when you are not in the beach areas.

Spanish city takes action
DinSide has previously written about the fines you risk if you break the beach laws in Benidorm in Spain.
In the coastal town, you risk a fine of NOK 1,200, which corresponds to around NOK 13,700 at today’s exchange rate, if you swim in the sea between midnight and seven in the morning.
It is also forbidden to set up parasols or lay down towels to reserve a place on the beach. This can cost you 150 euros, or 1700 kroner.
