Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul confirms that the student was shot and killed by police outside the school. Police responded to reports of a person with a weapon outside the school.

The school is still closed.

The school has pupils aged 11 to 13. None of the students are said to have been injured, and the person with the weapon was never able to get into the school.

AP refers to witness accounts that tell of children who ran from school after hearing gunshots. Parents have told of the children having to hide in cupboards, afraid to communicate by phone.
