A few months ago, the daughter of Ashley Massis Class, from the city of Charlotte in the state of North Carolina in the USA, said that she heard monsters in the walls of their house.

The parents of little Saylor (3) first thought their daughter had a vivid imagination, when she had just seen the movie “Monsters Inc.” with them, according to Class’ TikTok.

The months passed, and Saylor did not give up. She was determined that she heard noises behind her closet.

The case has been discussed by several media, including the BBC.

Then they heard sounds themselves. They decided to investigate what the daughter was talking about, and quickly realized that it wasn’t about monsters, but something else entirely.

Class noticed bees swarming in clusters near the attic and chimney outside their 100-year-old farmhouse.

She and her husband thought Saylor could hear the buzzing of the bees near their bedroom ceiling.

They contacted a beekeeper who found out that it was honeybees, which had sought refuge in the ceiling and walls around Saylor’s bedroom.

– Like a horror movie

For eight months they had built a “monster nest” around their house. They were shocked when they used a thermal camera to see the activity in the walls.

– It lit up like Christmas Eve, says Class in a TikTok video.

When they removed parts of the walls and ceiling, it turned out that there were tens of thousands of bees.

– They just kept pouring out, like in a horror movie, she says further.

Class says that the beekeeper must have said that he had never come across anything like it.

– In the last week, the beekeeper has removed over 65,000 bees and 45 kilograms of honeycomb, she says.

The insurance company said no

Honey bees are protected in the state, so they have been moved to a honey bee reserve.

The honeybees and their honey caused damage to wiring, and Class says in one of the videos that their homeowner’s insurance does not cover anything pest-related, as the company considers it preventable.

She estimates that the removal of the bees has cost more than 20,000 dollars, which corresponds to 220,000 kroner.

– Better monsters than bees

Several profiles have commented on the Tiktok video, which has been posted regularly in recent times.

– Paid my daughter to move out

– I would honestly rather have monsters in the wall than 50,000 bees, writes one.

– It’s better with bees than spiders, writes another.

Several others write that they have encountered the same situation with bees in the walls.
