«Sommerhytta” is one of TV 2’s most popular programs right now, and one of this year’s participating couples is the married couple Stine Gabrielsen (47) and Jamina Heggedal (45).
“A power couple” has interior expert and judge in the programme, Aina Sollien, referred to them as – Stine has excelled as a carpenter and has above-average practical skills, while Jamina is strong in interiors and color choices.
Now the couple tells TV 2 that it was by no means a given that it would be the two of them.

It was in 2003 that the couple met for the first time when they lived in the same block on Rødtvedt in Oslo.
Jamina lived downstairs with her boyfriend at the time, and was expecting her daughter Iris at the time, while Stine lived with her boyfriend on the third floor.

Stine moved away from the block for a period – when she returned in 2006, Jamina had become a single mother. It was Jamina who took the initiative to get to know the neighbor better, and registered on the queer website Gaysir.

– I did it alone because I was going to try to find “the neighbor in the third”. I did, and wrote: “Hello, hello. Your neighbor from the basement here. I think you forgot to wash the stairs.” My God, she laughs dejectedly in the interview with TV 2.
Stine’s mood was in no way affected by the seemingly sour thrust, and replied in a flirtatious tone.

“Oi, is that that sweet mother in the basement?”
She was very surprised to find Jamina at Gaysir.
– You had a husband and children, of course, says Stine.
However, the stair-washing line did the job, because soon the two became close friends.

Eventually, Stine told that she had developed feelings for Jamina.
– I was ready, me. I had been waiting for a while already. Stine was not quite ready to be my first girlfriend. She wanted me to go out and meet some girls first. Then I did it. And then we got together.
– Now I just have to wait for someone to die
The couple married in 2018, and today live together with Jamina’s daughter – still at Rødtvedt – no longer in the same block, but in a white wooden house with a spacious garden and a plating process in progress, writes TV 2.

More and more people do not define themselves as heterosexual.
– It still hurts so damn much
Tonje Garvik, who has written the book “Skeiv – den indre kamper” believes that this cannot be called a trend, but that it is about an increasingly open society that allows more people to define themselves as something other than heterosexual.
– If you look at people born before 1946, you will find extremely few, 0.8 per cent, but if you go to New York and ask Generation Z, over 20 per cent are not heterosexual.
Garvik also highlights a survey that was published before Christmas, from Wales, in which a full 1 in 3 did not define themselves as heterosexual.
– We weren’t lovers, he didn’t want to be a father and I had no desire to be a mother
Tonje Garvik has also been in love with both men and women. When she got together with her current partner, it had been 17 years since she had been with a man.
– Are there any big differences?
– Perhaps the big difference is that the man has stronger muscles. Men can more easily handle heavier things, laughs Garvik, and continues in earnest.
– It is easy to resort to stereotypes, but my male ex-partner was a great conversation partner. It’s always about personality and chemistry. I have been with women who have defined themselves as heterosexual as well.
