Just after 4pm on Wednesday, the police operations center received a report of a serious incident at an address in Lønborglien in Ytre Sandviken in Bergen.
– There was a report of the discovery of a bloody person on the street outside a residential building, says operations manager Tom Johannessen in the West police district in a press release.
The police moved out with large resources, and several ambulances were sent to the scene.
– We arrived at the scene after a short time, life-saving first aid was immediately initiated and the person was sent to Haukeland hospital. The person was declared dead at the hospital after a while, Johannessen says.
Not identified
At the same time, the police began to look for the cause of the incident, and then another bloody person was found indoors nearby.
– This person was immediately taken to hospital and was declared dead at the hospital, says Johannessen.
As of now, the dead people have not been identified, and therefore next of kin have not been notified either. The police say they are working with great resources to find out who the dead are and what happened at the scene.
No one was evacuated after the incident, and the police believe there is no danger to others in the area. It is unclear if anyone other than the two were involved in the incident.
Unclear what has happened
The police’s task leader Frank Listøl describes the case to Bergensavisen as a murder case.
– The police currently have no information that a third person has anything to do with this. We cannot rule that out, but we have no information about it now, he says.
He states that the health service arrived at the scene first, and that it was a woman who was found badly injured on the outside of an apartment.
– The police have set up an organization to investigate murders, he says to TV 2.
So far, no murder weapon has been found, and the police will not say anything about what may be the cause of death for the two.
Guard duty
Work is in full swing at the scene on Wednesday evening.
– We have been active around the crime scene, talking to a lot of people, because we know very little about what has happened. What is highest on the agenda is to get hold of the identity of the deceased, he says.
The police will work at the scene throughout the night. Crime scene technicians will thoroughly comb the home, and there will be security in the area.
Bjarte Høysæter, director of the agency for housing management in Bergen municipality, informs Bergensavisen that it is a municipal housing.
– I don’t know more about the case than what is in the newspaper. Now we have to wait for the police’s investigation, says Høysæter to BA.
