Changan Automobile from China is state-owned and has taken a lot of what we can neatly describe as inspiration from Tesla.
Getting “inspiration”
The company is the smallest of the country’s four largest state-owned automakers, which also include SAIC Motor, FAW Group and Dongfeng Motor Corporation.
Now the company is relevant with a sedan Shenlan SL03, and there is no doubt that they have been looking over Tesla’s shoulder.
Besides having almost the same dimensions, the design on the inside and outside is the same, just look at this:

The infotainment system also borrows many ideas from Tesla, but it stops there.
Because when it comes to the price, it’s impossible to match the Shenlan SL03: it starts at just 26,000 dollars (270,000 kroner) and then you get an impressive 515 km range (Model 3 costs from 409,990 kroner for a 491 km range) – go up a level and you get up to 705 km of range. We are not quite sure, but it is rumored that the price for this model is 34,650 dollars, 359,000 kroner.
The car has 27 different sensors and a larger level 4 autopilot, which means that it is completely self-driving if the environment allows it.
And the model is popular: in 30 minutes, 10,000 customers had reserved theirs. Production will start later.
