(Avisa Oslo): It turned out that the man (24) in the car had been released on parole from serving a sentence of 5.5 years in prison for negligent homicide, after the murder outside the Prinsdal grill on 10 January 2020.
The 24-year-old had only been at liberty for ten weeks when he was caught in Holmlia on 27 October with a Glock pistol loaded with 14 cartridges in the magazine.
By then he had served a total of three years and seven months, 2/3 of the sentence, after the Prinsdal murder.
He was remanded in custody the day after his arrest, charged with a serious breach of the Arms Act, and then admitted to the possession of the weapon.
Now he is charged with two counts of gross violation of the Arms Act, for having illegally carried a weapon in a public place and storing it without permission from the police.
– The offense is serious because he has previously been convicted of negligent homicide with a firearm and is part of a criminal milieu, says the prosecution decision from the police.
The verdict in the Borgarting Court of Appeal ended with the 24-year-old and a friend being sentenced for grossly negligent homicide and to pay one million kroner in compensation to the bereaved.
The Borgarting Court of Appeal concluded that it had not been proven that the murder of Halil Kara (21) was intentional, not carried out on purpose.
The penalty for serious illegal possession of a weapon in a public place is a fine or imprisonment for up to three years, while serious illegal possession of a weapon carries a maximum penalty of imprisonment for up to six years.
The 24-year-old must appear in the Oslo District Court on 21 May.
