It was 16-year-old Charlie Strand who died in a motorbike accident on Saturday.
Monday 6 May at 13:50The police received a report at 12.27 on Saturday about an accident involving a car and a light motorcycle.
Shortly afterwards, the 16-year-old boy was pronounced dead.
Names and photos are released by the Eastern Police District in agreement with the next of kin.
At the crime scene, flowers and candles have been laid in memory of the deceased. Many young people visited the church in Trøgstad on Sunday.
– It was a young boy who died. He was out on a motorcycle ride. And then the church is good to have, priest Kjersti Marken told VG.
200-250 people visited the church in two hours.
The accident has also affected the mayor of Indre Østfold.
– This is terribly tragic, says mayor of Indre Østfold Saxe Frøshaug.
He says his thoughts go out to the relatives and those close to him.
– But it affects the whole local community when things like this happen.
The police’s preliminary investigation indicates that the motorcycle probably overturned just before the meeting with the car and that there was no contact between the vehicles.
The driver is a woman in her 40s from Indre Østfold. She has not been charged for the accident, and her driver’s license was not confiscated.
