A man in his 20s was released on Thursday after a detention meeting in Trøndelag district court. He is charged with having left his partner in a helpless state.

The woman was found dead in their apartment on Tuesday and the case is being investigated as a suspicious death, said police attorney Ole Andreas Aftret in Trøndelag police district on Friday morning.

It was the accused themselves who notified the police. The next of kin have been notified.

“Certain answers from the autopsy have been communicated via the forensic technician, but the cause of death has not yet been clarified,” writes Aftret in an e-mail to Nidaros.

– Lay on the floor for several days

During the prison meeting, the accused expressed that he was worried about the woman in the run-up to the death.

“According to the accused’s explanation, the deceased was lying on the floor for several days and it must have been difficult to get in touch with her. He himself has perceived the situation to be so serious that he has on several occasions asked the deceased if he should contact an ambulance, and has been worried about her while he has been at work.

The man denies criminal guilt. Nidaros has been in contact with lawyer Tore Angen, who is the man’s defender. He has not responded to our inquiries on Friday.

Angen says the following to Adresseavisen:

– He is satisfied that he was released. We argued that there is no reason to suspect him of anything criminal.

The police requested that the man be remanded in custody for one week because they believed there was a risk that the accused would spill evidence in the case.

– The prosecution believes that there is a risk of tampering with evidence in the case, particularly in relation to electronic traces, writes Aftret.

Was not approved

The district court did not agree with that.

“When it comes to the current charge, the court finds neither that there is a concrete and real danger of tampering with evidence, nor a preponderance of probability that the accused will use such an opportunity to tamper with evidence. The accused has apparently been cooperative and has given two extensive statements to the police within a short period of time. He has also given up his phone, smart watch and password to the devices,” the ruling states.

Police attorney Aftret states that the prosecution will not appeal the ruling, and that the accused has now been released.
