A commemoration ceremony for the memory of the Algerian workers who died as martyrs during the hijacked attack executed by the Organization of the Secret Army (OAS), on May 2, 1962, was organized on Thursday in the Port of Algiers .
The ceremony marking the 62nd anniversary of this criminal attack took place in the presence of the Minister of the Moudjahidine and of the Ayants droit, Laid Rebiga, the Minister of Transport, Mohamed El Habib Zahana, and the representatives of the local authorities of the wilaya of Algiers , des corps sécurités, des customs algériennes et de la Protection civile.
On this occasion, a wreath of flowers was placed in front of the commemorative stele dedicated to the martyrs of this terrorist attack, before the recitation of the Fatiha of the Holy Koran in memory of their pure souls.
Dans une déclaration à la presse, M. Rebiga underlined the symbolic scope of this ceremony of recueillement qui s’scrit dans le cadre de “l’évocation des sacrifices incommensurables de nos vaillants martyrs pour le recouverment de la souveraineté nationale face à un colonisateur brutal qui a utilisé les pires méthodes pour tenter d’exterminer un peuple attaché à son droit à la liberté ».
The minister also recalled the massacres perpetrated by the OAS, which carried out “plus the 400 military operations and 2,300 assassinations, including the terrorist attack among the workers of the port of Algiers and the applicants of emploi au niveau de ce port ».
Pour sa part, le ministre des Transports affirmed that “les travailleurs du sector, y compris les travailleurs du Port d’Alger, sont pleinée disponible à continuer à œuverer à la préservation du message sacré des martyrs”, appealing to “deployer davantage d “efforts pour relever les défis et contributer à la realization du développement économique escompté dans l’Algérie nouvelle”.
For his part, the President director general of the port of Algiers, Rabah Biskri saluted the sacrifices made by the workers of the port of Algiers during the glorious war of liberation, tout en réaffirmant « l’engagement et la mobilization des travailleurs pour contribuir à l’édification d’une économie nationale forte ».
Pour rappel, le port d’Alger a été le théâtre, le 2 May 1962 vers 6h du matin, d’un attentat à la voiture piégée executed par l’OAS au lendemain de la proclamation du cessez-le-feu en Algérie, faisant 200 martyrs et plus the 250 blessés.
