On a sunny Saturday morning, a group of ladies from all over Rogaland gathered to show that frisbee golf is not just for men. Here, both the competitive instinct, the joy of walking and the social free play are found, we learn. With soft drinks, coffee and some sweets, they will enjoy themselves together and hopefully tempt other ladies to consider trying this sport.
– I’ve been doing this for a little over two years now, and I actually don’t get bored. I play and compete against and with both the type and my girlfriends, says an easy-going Fjell.
She further explains that they are a permanent group of friends of around ten people who meet and play several times a week. There are many good ladies here, they say. They play on courses in both Sandnes and Sola, and new courses are constantly being opened. This is often done on a voluntary basis and even though there are different clubs in Sandnes and Sola, there is a bit of a smooth transition, and the members play on all the courses in the area.
– It is a very male-dominated sport, there is no doubt about that. I love to go for walks, so it probably started with me joining the type who wanted to play, but as I learned the sport, my competitive instinct was ignited, and winning became more important to me too, says the frisbee golfer with a laugh. the queen.
Does not require a lot of equipment
It is worth buying or borrowing a disk, preferably a mid-range one that you can use for most things when you are new. Gradually, as knowledge and interest increase, most people buy several types of frisbees for different needs, based on length or screw.
– We run open days here at Ølberg every Thursday at six o’clock. Here there will be some of us regulars who can demonstrate and help groups of beginners through the course. This is completely open to absolutely everyone, and you will learn the basics of the sport.
