Lukas Ripson-Stefanovici (17) is Russian this year at Stangnes. He says he got drunk because practically all his friends are.
– I want to be a little more involved in the environment and explore the comfort zones a little more.
As for this year’s Russian activities, Lukas says that the Russian will be like every other year.
– Walk around, drink, have fun and wear Russian clothes, whether it’s red, blue or black trousers. And just have fun.
When asked if they have a Russian bus, Lukas says that unfortunately it is not allowed in Harstad. He chooses instead to stick to tradition by wearing a suit during the May 17 celebrations.
We asked Lukas what Russian knots are, and he describes them like this:
– A challenge can be to enter the first-grade or VG1 classroom, steal a student, and sit at their desk, or participate in the teaching.
He also mentions a planned Russian knot where they would “go in and kidnap a student from the first class and hide under the desk during one of their classes.”
We asked Lukas if this was legal, and this is what he had to say:
– It’s mostly for fun. We don’t do it to hurt anyone or anything. Of course, we’ll take him back straight afterwards. So, yes. It’s more for tradition.
Lukas also says that the highlight as far as Russians were concerned, was a Russian meeting where many gathered and just had fun.
When asked what he is most looking forward to, Lukas is looking forward to the upcoming Russian baptism, where each Russian group comes together to find a name for each person in the group.
