Krystle Carrington from “Dynastiet” has turned 81

--

The American soap series “Dynastiet” became very popular in this country as it was in the USA.

The drama in the rich Denver family was followed by thousands of viewers and the series is still remembered and loved by many to this day.

The actors in “Dynasty” were on everyone’s lips in the 80s. Although the series was on TV from 1981 and 1989, it did not come to Norway until 1983.

At the time, the Norwegian public had not seen anything like it and “Dynasty” was referred to as highly controversial.

But viewers were captivated by the intrigue and drama that unfolded between the characters Blake Carrington, Krystle Carrington, his wife and former employees, their children and ex-wife Alexis.

The 80’s success Dynasty was on everyone’s lips

It’s no wonder that “Dynastiet” was groundbreaking in its time. The drama-filled soap series featured power struggles, romantic entanglements, sibling rivalry and everything that belongs to the excess of the 80s.

This decade was full of knee-jerk colours, glitter and glam, and huge hairstyles – so there is no doubt that “Dyanstiet” came at the right time with its glamorous style.

But it is above all the actors who played the iconic characters that made this series so legendary.

Many probably remember, among other things, the intrigues between Krystal and Alexis that were brought to life by the actors Linda Evans and Joan Collins.

Linda Evans played Krystle Grant Jennings Carrington

Many would probably call Linda Evans, who played Krystle, the queen of the legendary series.

She played the kind-hearted and loyal secretary who eventually married Blake Carrington.

She was in the series from the start and in 1982 she was awarded a Golden Globe for best actress in a drama series for her work in “Dynasty”.

– The role was an answer to a prayer

Evans became one of the most famous female TV stars of the 80s. She became world famous for her role as “Krystle Carrington” in “Dynasty”.

“That role was an answer to a prayer. I had just separated from my second husband and was wondering what my life was going to be about, because I had never wanted to be an actor,” Evans previously stated, according to Digital Journal.

“I had always wanted to be a wife and a mother, and at that point in my life I thought that being a mother and a wife wasn’t going to work, so I decided to get a career. I called my agent and told him I finally wanted a career, and I was 39 at the time … and then, ‘Oh my god, here comes Dynasty,'” she said.

“I liked Krystle because her dream was similar to mine … she wanted a husband and a child and she wasn’t so interested in the Carrington money, her dream was love. Blake and Krystle personified that,” she continued.

After the success of Dynasty

Although Evans became world famous for her role in the soap opera, the actor had actually achieved great success for her role as “Audra” in the 1960s western film “The Big Valley” alongside famous actress Barbara Stanwyck.

After the series was closed, the actress admitted in 2016 that she had struggled with depression and suicidal thoughts afterwards. Which came after three people who were close to her became seriously ill.

– My life fell apart. I didn’t understand depression, my blood pressure went up. It became a nightmare, she told Entertainment Tonight.

The actress has not done any roles since 1997, but in 2021 she returned to the screen in the film “Swan Song”.

“I’m in love with this movie,” she said, according to Entertainment Tonight. “I had to do it. It was poignant how (writer and director Todd Stephens) captured what it’s like to be older and struggle with life. It really touched me. What are the odds that I would work again at 78? It’s so unbelievable, but as I always love to say, ‘Anything is possible.'”
