Included in the legislative package that was passed in the Senate was a right the US gives itself to seize Russian assets abroad: $300 billion is within reach. If Biden signs the law, it is meant to seize them.

It can have major consequences and has never happened before. Part of the rules of the game is that you respect property rights. If the US breaks it, there could be consequences for relations with countries such as India and China.

Only $10 billion is under direct US control. The rest is placed in Euroclear around the world.
