Former President Donald Trump has posted a bond for $175 million in the fraud case and is avoiding seizure of his properties.
Right now
The amount corresponds to approximately NOK 1.9 billion.
The former president has been ordered to pay a $454 million fine, which he claimed in February he was unable to do. Last week, however, he had his payment deadline postponed in exchange for him paying a bail of 175 million dollars within ten days.
Trump has been fined for having inflated values in his company to secure better conditions with banks and insurance companies – and for having reduced them to avoid taxes.
The bail prevents New York Attorney General Letitia James from going after Trump’s properties, including the skyscraper Trump Tower in New York, the huge golf resort in Westchester and the Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.
Trump has appealed the sentence, and the payment deferral applies until the case is fully processed.
