In the south of the country there was some traffic yesterday, but less than expected, traffic operator Fabian Steng tells NTB.

He says there have been no major traffic incidents.

– There was most traffic in Hønefoss, and the E16 in the direction of Sandvika. We expect it to be somewhat of the same today, and that traffic will increase from 12 o’clock onwards in the afternoon, says Steng.

Those going into Drammen should also be aware that there may be some traffic from Mjøndalen on the E134.

He encourages travelers to check 175.no for updated traffic reports.

Many traveled yesterday

Traffic operator Hilde Bjørnstad also says that traffic is expected from Lillehammer towards Oslo.

– Many people left yesterday. There can be a lot of traffic, but it can also spread out, says Bjørnstad.

– When you have to drive on a day like today, it’s a good idea to think that there are more people than you who are going home, drive carefully, calculate your time, and keep a good distance to the car in front of you, she says.

Can become a traffic jam in Bergen

In the west, there have been reports of slippery roads in the past, but traffic operator Jørgen Bødtker states that there has been little traffic so far. However, he expects increased traffic throughout the day.

In Bergen, it is especially the roundabout in Trengereid, where the county road and the European road meet, that can create queues.

– There is always a bit of cork there, so it goes well. Yesterday it started to get crowded from 2 p.m., says Bødtker.

Open roads in the North

Traffic operator Jonas Johnsen brings good news regarding traffic in the north of the country.

– There is a bit of snow in Troms and some parts of Finnmark, but otherwise the roads are mostly open, he says to NTB.

It’s a little hard to tell what’s going on outside, but as long as the roads are open, it usually goes pretty smoothly.

Earlier on Monday, there was a head-on collision between a minibus and a car on county road 814 in Vestvågøy in Lofoten. Four people were sent to hospital and the road was closed, but it has since reopened.

Can get busy towards Trondheim

In central Norway, no traffic problems have been reported so far either.

– The traffic looks pretty good for now, says traffic operator Henrik Haugland to NTB.

He emphasizes that it is difficult to predict how the traffic will be throughout the day, but mentions that it is possible that it could get busy inwards towards Trondheim as more people turn their noses home.

– But it looks good so far, he says.
