Strawberry is launching rooms at half price if you share it with a stranger

Strawberry wants to make it easier for travelers to make choices that are both good for the environment and the wallet. That is why the company is now launching the room category sleep friendand from 1 June guests and members will be able to book rooms at half price at all of Strawberry’s hotels in the Nordics, if they share the room with a stranger.

Through the Nordic concept Sleeping Buddy guests and members can book rooms at half price from 1 June. The room category will be available for booking via web and app, and you don’t know who you will be sharing a room with until you check in.

– We are always looking for solutions that meet the needs of our guests and members. When this idea came to the table, it quickly became clear that this is something that Strawberry will be the first to come up with. We will challenge the traditional and work for new and exciting paths for the industry we work in, this is completely in line with our values ​​and visions, and the rebel in us couldn’t resist taking this to market, says Marianne Orderud, VP Brand , Marketing and Digital Sales in Strawberry.

However, the company has taken some rules into account. Only members of the same membership level can share rooms. Restrictions have also been introduced which mean that you share a room with the same sex. The aim of the offer is to help guests and members travel more environmentally friendly, more budget friendly and perhaps make a new friend or two. After their stay, guests who have shared a room will have the opportunity to give each other reviews in the Strawberry app, in the same way as apps such as Uber. In addition, you get the opportunity to add each other as friends and follow each other’s journeys going forward.

If you find a new one sleep friend the company will also make it possible for the person concerned to invite each other to dinner, concerts or other activities if they are staying at the same hotel or are in the same city on a later occasion.

The new room category is available from 1 June, but guests and members can already book now sleep friend through the company’s booking channels on the web and in the app. The concept was launched on social media today.
