Vy encourages people to get in touch after the train derailment

On Saturday morning, there will be buses instead of trains, as yesterday’s train derailment has led to the Bergen Line being closed between Bergen and Vaksdal.

Eirik Mjelde is ready to send his son by bus and then train, and says that yesterday’s incident has left him in awe.

– I try not to think too much about it, but it is clear that you get a little worried. I hope and believe it will go well, says Mjelde to NRK.

Press guard in Vy, Åge-Christoffer Lundeby, says he fully understands the concern among train travellers.

Both for those who will be traveling by train today, and the over 200 people who were stuck in the passenger train last night. The passenger train stopped 500 meters from the derailed freight train and was stuck in the Arnanipa tunnel for four hours.

– It is and should be safe to travel by train, and there are many safety barriers. The most important thing now is that no lives were lost, says Lundeby.

Lundeby encourages those who were involved in yesterday’s incident to contact the company for any refunds and feedback, and emphasizes that Vy does its utmost to look after its passengers.

– Now it is up to the police and the National Accident Investigation Board to find out what caused the freight train to derail, and how it can be prevented from happening again, says Lundeby and adds:

– Normal train operation on the Bergen Railway will only take place when the police and the Accident Investigation Board have finished their investigations, and BaneNor has cleared the accident site.

The Accident Investigation Board is expected at the scene of the accident on Saturday at 11.00.
