Lost my mother (44) in a fall accident

Life could not be saved, when Lene Olette Skavrager (44) fell from her apartment on the eighth floor of a block of flats in Skien on Friday afternoon.

CPR was started, writes the local newspaper Varden, but the doctors were powerless.

The police have carried out investigations, but according to Lene’s son Gard Bjørn Evensen (22), there is no suspicion of anything criminal.

The family in shock

Now the family must learn to live with the loss.

– Now we are all gathered together, and we are in shock, Gard told Dagbladet on Tuesday.

He and his mother were in regular contact by phone, from Sogndal, where he currently studies.

– I spoke to her the day before, says Gard.

Then most things were as usual. Therefore, he was completely unprepared when he received the phone call that his mother had died.

He got into the car and drove home to Skien.

– Not criminal

In the days leading up to the funeral in Stathelle church, on a date that has not yet been determined, the small family supports each other as best they can.

– We try to be together more than usual, and talk about all the good things that have happened. There is nothing else to do but be a family, says Gard.

What he wants to say about the death itself is that it was a tragic accident.

– The police categorize it as nothing criminal has happened, he says.

Police Inspector Odd Skei Kostveit in the Sørøst Police District has previously told Varden that there were, among other things, two men in the apartment, but that there are no suspects.

– The bonus kids

Besides Gard and his little brother, Lene had two sisters. They, and the boys’ grandmother Ragnhild, have many fond memories of her.

– She was so caring for all people, both younger and older. She was supposed to help everyone, she was incredibly kind and cared, both about people and animals, says Ragnhild to Varden.

– Mother was a mother, very caring. She wanted everyone around her to have a good time, and was fantastically good with animals, says Gard to Dagbladet.

He says that Lene’s two purebred cats are now in safe hands with her mother, Ragnhild.

– They were like her bonus children, says Gard.
