– In general, I have to say that Infantino and I do not agree on so many things, starts Klaveness when NTB asks her about Infantino’s demands.

Last week, Infantino came out and expressed his dissatisfaction with the rights bids from the five biggest footballing countries in Europe: Great Britain, Spain, Italy, Germany and France, often referred to as the “Big Five”.

– To be completely clear. It is our moral and legal duty not to sell the Women’s World Cup on the cheap. If the bids are not improved, we are forced to prevent the championship from being shown to the “Big Five”, said the Fifa president.

Demands

Klaveness supports putting the big broadcasters under pressure.

– Broadcasters often make demands on the clubs and organizations that there should be equality. There are often issues you (the media) bring up, says Klaveness.

– Infantino turns it back a bit and asks the broadcasters, who have large finances, to invest properly in the women’s product, she says.

Infantino stated that the TV companies have bid between 1 and 10 million dollars for the WC in Australia and New Zealand. The bids for the men’s World Cup finals in Qatar were between 100 and 200 million dollars.

– Good

– It is the biggest source of income for football. It is in itself positive that he is pursuing a policy that is about income on the women’s side and not just money from Saudi Arabia. That is exactly what we must support, I think. It is good that he puts some pressure, says Klaveness.

The Football World Cup starts on 20 July and lasts for a month. Norway plays the opening match against New Zealand.

– Then the screens must not go black, we must watch this championship. But the fact that Fifa is starting to make some demands is good, says the football president with 73 caps for Norway.
