ARM rivalry this summer – Apple follows up with the M4 later this year

Qualcomm boasts that the Elite edition beats Apple’s M3 chip and M2 chip by as much as 50 percent. We’ll see why manner it does, but they’re also no tighter than they think the more affordable Plus variant will do the same.

“Snapdragon X Plus features the state-of-the-art Qualcomm Oryon CPU which is a custom integrated processor that delivers up to 37 percent faster CPU performance compared to the competition, while consuming up to 54 percent less power. This remarkable advance in CPU performance sets a new standard in mobile computing, enabling users to achieve more with greater efficiency,” said the company in an effort, along with Microsoft, to once again bring Windows ARM to the masses and benefits it provides, such as improved battery life, faster start-up and new laptop designs. It has already leaked a couple of machines from Lenovo.

The chip has 10 cores, two less than the Elite model and is clocked down from 3.8GHz to 3.4GHz. When it comes to performance against the Apple M3, it managed 2,000 fewer points than the Elite in Geekbench, but it is still 10 percent faster than the Apple M3. In terms of energy benefits, we find 54 percent less use at maximum use compared to Intel’s new Core Ultra 7155H (4.8GHz max turbo.)

“CPU performance is based on GeekBench 2024 Mult-Thread on Windows 11 OS run in March 2024. Snapdragon X Elite and Snapdragon X Plus were tested with a Qualcomm reference design on Windows 11 OS,” Qualcomm reveals.
