--

There is a lot of money to be had for those who assert themselves in the Tour de Ski. The runners win money if they finish on the podium in each individual race, lead the tour overall along the way and if they are among the top 20 in the summary at the end.

Million cheers

The athlete who can cheer for the biggest financial gain is Johannes Høsflot Klæbo, but several other Norwegian runners also received handsome sums.

Overall winner Frida Karlsson pocketed the million, while Tiril Udnes Weng earned the most of the Norwegian women.

Johannes Høsflot Klæbo: About NOK 1.2 million.

Trønder was best in 6 out of 7 races in the Tour de Ski and thus also won the competition overall. Thus, he can go home with more than one million in profit.

In total, Klæbo has competed for approximately three hours in the last two weeks. This gives an hourly wage of approx. NOK 400,000.

Simen Hegstad Krüger: NOK 725,000.

Krüger travels home with a stage win and two podium places. He was also second overall.

Hans Christer Holund: NOK 460,000.

Hans Christer Holund was second on the last stage. Consistently good results also ensure that he is third in the summary.

Pål Golberg: NOK 340,000.

Golberg was on the podium twice along the way and was also paid for being second overall after three stages.

Anne Kjersti Kalvå: NOK 11,000.

Kalvå had to break the Tour de Ski when she tested positive for corona. The 30-year-old still managed to finish third in the 10 km classic in Oberstdorf. It gave NOK 11,000.

The Trønder fared well in the summary, and probably missed out on a good deal of prize money when she had to withdraw from the tour.

Mathilde Myhrvold: NOK 11,000.

Myhrvold took the season’s first podium when she was third in the sprint in Val di Fiemme, before she broke the tour.
