In the hockey-mad Czech Republic, the puck is dropped in the World Cup this weekend. For Norway, both Mads Zuccarrello and Patrick Thoresen are involved, and a tough battle to keep their place in the A group is expected.
– We must be realistic. Keeping the place is probably the goal. We are still a small nation against many teams that are strong. We should be satisfied then. Then the rest will be a bonus, says Zucca to TV 2.
The WC party starts on Friday and ends with the final on Sunday 26 May. But even before the first puck is dropped, several media outlets are reporting a concern.
According to the Czech magazine Blesk, there is still a lot of work to be done before the large fan areas are 100 percent complete. Especially the area in Ostrava, where Norway plays its matches, there is a lot that should not be taken care of.
Finnish Iltalehti reported on Thursday that the food areas outside the arena in the WC city were not ready for the entry of hockey-mad supporters. Nor was the large cube inside the hall in place, they wrote. Slovakian Nocy Cas referred to the whole thing as “a construction site”.
Martin Pesta, marketing manager for the championship, assures that everything is under control.
– Everything is going according to plan. The preparations are nearing the end. The fan areas open on Friday at 2pm, and we ask the spectators to arrive as early as possible, because queues are expected, he tells Blesk.
