Stefan Holm, Height | Swedish Olympic winner reported to the police – accused of mistreating a school student

The Olympic winner says he is ashamed.

It is the Swedish newspaper Nya Wermlands-Tidningen that writes about the report against Holm. The case has been reported by, among others, Expressen.

The episode which the police will now look into is said to have occurred on Tuesday. Then Holm had his first day as a substitute teacher at a local school. In one of the classes, a row allegedly broke out between the former sports star and a couple of students.

Holm says to the local newspaper that the classes were “noisy”.

It resulted in Holm at one point grabbing one of the students hard by the arm and dragging him to the front of the classroom. Later, he is said to have grabbed the same pupil again and guided him to the desk, writes Nya Wermlands-Tidningen.

The newspaper has spoken to the former high jumper, who is lying flat. He admits to having acted in a way he should not have done.

– I know that I cannot do this and that I acted wrongly. I’ve thought about it a lot, and I’m terribly sorry. I really regret that I did it, and know that I crossed a line, says Holm to the local newspaper.

– I’m ashamed as hell, he says.

He goes on to say that the situation he has found himself in feels “too damned in every way”.

The 47-year-old has apologized to the student and his guardian. The principal at the school in question states that the student has no visible injuries and is doing well.

It is the school that has reported the case, according to Nya Wermlands-Tidningen.

Holm was among the world’s best high jumpers at the start of the 2000s and won Olympic gold in Athens in 2004.
