SOCCER: Sunday’s home game against KFUM Oslo is the first of five elite series games for FKH in May. All five are against teams that are not predicted to be at the very top of the Eliteserien.

Here is the line-up:

  • May 5: FKH – YMCA Oslo (11th place now)
  • May 12: HamKam – FKH (14th place)
  • May 16: FKH – Kristiansund (7th place)
  • May 20: Strømsgodset – FKH (4th place)
  • May 26: FKH – Sandefjord (15th place)

This series of matches comes after FKH has made two good performances against Rosenborg (1–3) and Molde (1–2), but without taking any points.

– That is not what we want

FKH’s Claus Niyukuri agrees that it is time to take points again when newly promoted “Kåffa” are on the opposite half of the court on Sunday.

– Yes of course. Now we have played well and taken zero points. That’s not what we want. We want to play well and take three points. Sunday is a great opportunity to take three points, says the left-back.

Niyukuri gets support in this week’s episode of Haugesund Avis’ football podcast Frelst.

– That must change now, says FKH expert Johannes Dale Husebø in Frelst.

– A bit scary

There, the match program in May is also a hot topic. The big question is how many points FKH must take in the five games in the coming month.

– I will be very pleased if FKH wins the three home games. So I will be fairly satisfied if they get seven or eight points. If it is less than that, it is actually a bit scary in terms of steering away from the bottom line. May is incredibly important, says Frelst member Odd Kåre Grøttland.

He gets support from Husebø.

– I agree with Odd Kåre. We cannot lose any of the home games. We must have at least two wins. It should give at least seven points. Then we should squeeze a point away. If FKH ends up with eight points in these games, then it’s ok, he believes.

Niyukuri is clear that the games in May are not more important than other games.

– The match schedule may look simpler, but all the matches are important. And everyone can almost beat everyone in the Eliteserien, says the 24-year-old.

Didn’t want to risk quarantine

Niyukuri was replaced after 65 minutes against Molde last time. He denies that it is about him not being well enough trained to stand the whole match.

– It was a tactical change. I spoke to San (assistant Sancheev Manoharan) after the game. It was about avoiding my fourth yellow card. They didn’t want to risk me having to face the YMCA, says Niyukuri.

FKH still have to manage without Sondre Liseth against KFUM Oslo on Sunday. Liseth is partially back in training, but must wait until next weekend before he is back in the fighting squad. Besides Liseth, FKH is also missing young Almar Grindhaug and long-term injured Amund Wichne.

PS! Remember that right after the match on Sunday you will get reactions and interviews directly from the mixed zone on h-avis.no.
