The athletics coach is accused of abuse in close relationships. The indictment covers matters relating to one of the athletics profile’s children. He pleads not guilty.

Heidi Reisvang at Elden Advokatfirma, who is defending Ingebrigtsen, says the athletics coach will continue coaching in the future.

– As long as the athletes perform and feel that the collaboration is more positive than negative in sum, and they want him as a coach, he will continue to train them, says Reisvang to NTB.

– Didn’t seek any attention

She adds that Ingebrigtsen will behave in a way that is in the best interest of the athletes in connection with competitions and conventions and “to a greater extent be in the background”.

– He hopes that as long as he stays in the background, the media will respect that and not seek him out or persecute his family, she adds.

When asked by NTB, Reisvang will not elaborate further on what is involved in the coach’s profile staying more in the background, but says:

– During the convention in Spain (this week’s editor’s note), he didn’t seek any attention, but stayed away. He wants the media to now leave him and his family alone, to respect this and not to seek out in the way that has been done so far.

– Has he at any point in this process considered retiring as coach?

Does not receive Olympic accreditation

In connection with the indictment against Ingebrigtsen becoming known, head of top sports Tore Øvrebø stated that Olympiatoppen has concluded that the athletics coach will not receive accreditation for the summer Olympics in Paris.

The same decision has been made in relation to the upcoming European outdoor championships in Rome. He also did not get accreditation for the WC in Budapest last year or the WC indoors in Glasgow earlier this year.
