Wes Burns and Omari Hutchinson scored the goals in the 2-0 win over Huddersfield. Thus, Ipswich is back at the highest level of English football for the first time since 2002.

Five years ago, the team was relegated to League One, and thus the club was outside the top two divisions of English football for the first time in 63 years.

Last season, the “Tractor Boys” moved up again from League One with 2nd place and spent just one season in level two before moving up to the Premier League.

Title winner Leicester had already secured promotion in the championship series before the last series round and thus only spent one season in level two before the comeback in the Premier League was a reality.

Blackburn beat the league winners 2-0 in the last round of the league on Saturday, ensuring that Leicester won the league by one point to Ipswich.

Leeds, Southampton, West Bromwich and Norwich followed behind. One of the teams goes up to the Premier League next season through promotion qualification.

Rotherham were already relegation-ready before the closing round. Huddersfield, Birmingham, Plymouth, Sheffield Wednesday and Blackburn were fighting to avoid the same fate in the last round of the series.

The Ipswich triumph saw Huddersfield relegated. Birmingham won 1-0 against Norwich, but could not avoid relegation.
