On Wednesday 8 May, Klepp was due to meet Viking in the first round of the women’s football NM at Klepp Stadium. The match will not be played.
– On Monday, we notified the association and Viking that we are withdrawing the team from the NM on the basis of the squad and injury situation, writes sporting director Bjarte Hovland in a message to Jærbladet.
This means that Viking wins the match 3-0 and advances to the second round on a walkover.
As you know, Viking moved up to the 1st division last autumn, after having attempted just that for many years. At the same time, Klepp moved down to the 2nd division for the first time in the club’s history.

Vulnerable to damage
Klepp only has 19 players in the A-squad, in addition to Tilja Ellingsen helping out when she has occasion. With four players out, the club therefore found that it was best to concentrate on the league game in the 2nd division. The four who are out are Martine Norheim, Sunniva Hjertvik, Sofie Hellestø Stangeland and Hedda Helle Skadal. The latter had to leave with an injury in Sunday’s home game against Fana, which Klepp won 6-0.
The start of the season has been good for Klepp. In the series opener, the girls won 1-0 away against Stabæk’s second team, before, as mentioned, there was a big win against Fana.

The next matches
On Saturday, Klepp plays an away game against Arendal in the 2nd division, while strong Start comes to Jæren on Sunday 12 May.
Klepp beat Viking in the first round of the junior NM, and may meet Bryne in the second round. Bryne will play his first round match in the junior NM away to Gimletroll on Tuesday 7 May.
Brynes plays the first round in the senior NM at home against Haugesund on Thursday 2 May. Bryne’s next league match is also against Haugesund, at home on Sunday 5 May.
