Schools and hotels across the city are getting ready for the check-in of around 2,500 children, young people and parents. Siv Nummedal is one of the people primarily responsible for accommodation at the schools during the cup.
– This year is the cup’s 25th anniversary and we will be visited by up to 200 teams who will be taking part. Ever since last year, this cup has been planned. It is the largest short-term event here in the city in terms of the number of people who attend. This is a cup that is characterized by a lot of hard work to get everything in order. Because of this, the cup has gained a good reputation. People come back because they feel good, says Nummedal.
These schools will house many of the players:

- Allaningen school
- Dalabrekka school
- Atlanten secondary school
- Atlanten VGS
- Nordlandet secondary school
- Dale Primary School
Discotheque and water park
Many employees and volunteers help to make it possible to organize this large event. Taking care of 2,500 people is no easy task.
– This started as a small idea in 1999 where we only had 16 teams participating, since then it has developed into a large organisation. It’s good that people are coming back. I think it is very exciting to see how far the cup has come since it started, says Nummedal.
Those who sleep over at schools lie on air mattresses. In addition to this, they have access to a disco and water park. Time has been set aside so that they can go on a small excursion in the city during the weekend. Breakfast and evening meals are served at the schools, but Braatthallen is responsible for dinner.
Good shop
With all the visitors, it is expected that shops and restaurants in the city will also be busy this weekend.
Rosa Sørlie, general manager at Burger King, says she is looking forward to the weekend.
– We have ordered as much goods as we have the capacity to keep in stock, and ensure that we have enough staff throughout the weekend. In addition, we make sure that the cleaning tasks are carried out as usual and that the customers have a good experience. We are well prepared for a busy weekend and a lot of waiting time, says Sørlie.
She expects high pressure.
– It’s also exciting now that we’ve got Foodora and Volt in town and we’re expecting quite a few orders from there. It will probably boil properly. We look forward to serving hot and fresh food to players, team managers and, not least, cheerleaders, she says.
