Liverpool’s dream of winning the Premier League in Jürgen Klopp’s final season suffered a real setback on Wednesday night.

However, former Everton and Manchester United player Wayne Rooney snorts at the “whining” from the Liverpool camp.

Rooney thinks this with a tight match schedule is an excuse that Liverpool puts forward a little too often.

– We have heard it so many times from Liverpool when it comes to the 12.30 kick-off. Come on, this is your job.

– They should be ready to play another game, says the former Manchester United man.

Van Dijk was interviewed by Sky Sports after Wednesday’s loss and it was on that occasion that he brought up what makes Rooney react.

– Now we just have to focus on kick-off at 12.30, again, said the Dutchman.

– These games (the derby) are always a fight and we shouldn’t lose, in my opinion. Now we have to get together and be ready for Saturday.

Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp also referred to the upcoming match against West Ham as difficult.

Rooney himself was critical
