Jamie Carragher, Liverpool | Carragher warns Liverpool after rumours

On Wednesday night, Liverpool lost to city rivals Everton, which most likely means that the Reds’ quest for a league trophy this season is over.

The news causes club legend Jamie Carragher to react and he is skeptical.

– What I want to say is that it is a big leap from Feyenoord to Liverpool. It shows that right now there is a lack of class managers who are available, when you see who Liverpool are going after, says the Sky Sports expert according to The Mirror.

– First they looked at Xabi Alonso, but he only has one proper season as head coach. Then there was talk of Ruben Amorim from Sporting, but he is only 39 years old.

Slot has been very successful at Feyenoord and is described as a “Pep Guardiola student” when it comes to the way he wants to play football.

– Slot is the favorite now, but it is not the same as when Rafa Benitez came in or Jürgen Klopp came in. Benitez had won La Liga twice in a row and the UEFA Cup when he arrived. Klopp had won the league with Borussia Dortmund and been in the Champions League final, Carragher points out further.

– Liverpool was a different club at the time. In the team I played in, we were chasing a place in the top four. The same was the case when Klopp came in. Now Liverpool will challenge for the league title and the Champions League. There are expectations that they will at least go to the quarter-finals.

Therefore, the former stopper believes that Slot will have a big task, if he is eventually chosen as the new manager at Liverpool.
