Now the Dutch star is speaking out about the break with the team.
– The way it has been communicated, it feels like a knife in the back, she says according to the newspaper De Telegraaf.
Recently it became known that Leerdam and Jumbo-Visma will no longer cooperate, a message that came as a surprise to many.
– We had a plan for the collaboration, but we didn’t feel the same will about the collaboration on her part, which we know is important for success. Last week we decided to end the collaboration, the team stated.
Leerdam herself has shared a post on Instagram in which she writes that she will not compete in the team’s yellow suit next season.
– I have to change things at this stage of my career. I have had a few tough weeks where I have thought a lot about the fact that there are only two years until the Olympics, she writes, among other things.
But it is clear that the Dutchman is clearly disappointed with how the breach has been handled. Now the future of the 25-year-old is uncertain just two years before the Olympics in Milan.
As well as being a big star in the skating circus, Leerdam has also made headlines for her relationship with boxer and YouTube star Jake Paul.
The two have been a couple for over a year and diligently share their life together on social media.
