It was Ullensaker-Kisa IL Friidrett who won the elite class for men in the Holmenkoll Relay on Saturday afternoon. The cross-country talent Simen Gløgård Stensrud ran the second leg there. The 19-year-old, who is also committed to athletics, switched in as number four and out as number three.

At the finish, over half a minute separated the Swedish team Hälle IF in second place. IL Gular took third place.

Petter Northug and his club team Mosvik IL, which was packed with strong cross-country skiers, came ninth in the Holmenkoll Relay.

Petter Northug himself ran the second stage. The 38-year-old took over the baton from Joar Thele as number six, and passed it on to his little brother Even as number 14. Even’s team ran one place higher on the list. After that, the team was between tenth and twelfth place in the next stages, and the last four as number nine.

Heming IL with, among others, Kasper Stadaas who came second overall in Ski Classics this winter, regional team skier Harald Astrup Arnesen and Stian Grastveit, came 11th.

Kjelsås IL Cross Country was number 14.

LYN Ski 1, with among others Simen Hegstad Krüger, was seven minutes and 14 seconds behind the winners and finished in 19th place out of a total of 19 teams.

But all the men’s teams in the elite class avoided “tjejdeng”: The best team in the women’s elite ran to the finish line in 58:13. It was IK Tjalve. This is how it went with the dream team of national team coach Marit Bjørgen.
