Mats Zuccarello and the Minnesota Wild came close to blowing the win after taking a two-goal lead against the Ottawa Senators, but eventually won 3-2.

Wednesday 3 April at 07:36

With the win, Zuccarello’s team is six points behind the Los Angeles Kings in the hunt for a playoff spot. With eight games remaining, the Kings currently hold the final playoff spot with 87 points, while the St. Louis Blues (84) and Wild (81) are tied. However, the Blues have one more game played than both the Kings and the Wild.

“Zucca” and co. will meet the Kings in the penultimate regular season game on April 15.

The Minnesota team has been in the Stanley Cup playoffs for the past four seasons, but they have not managed to advance beyond the first round.

Wild led after the first period after scoring by Mason Shaw, while Matt Boldy doubled the home team’s lead before the minute of the middle period.

But the guests from Ottawa ensured balance in the accounts through Drake Betherson and Jakob Chychrun. Both scores came in overtime.

But it was still the Minnesota Wild who ran away with all the points. Vinni Lettieri’s goal after 13 minutes of the third period ensured a 3-2 home win.

Zuccarello got a total of 19 minutes and 19 seconds on the ice for Minnesota. The Norwegian has 56 goal points in 64 games this season.
